                                             St Peter’s as an Eco – Church

St Peter’s Church, Clayworth has been awarded a Silver Eco – church certificate.

We use eco-friendly products wherever possible.

We use Fairtrade beverages and all our crockery and glasses are reusable

All our lights use LED bulbs
 

Since 2011 we have had recycling facilities in church for spectacles and used printer cartridges. We also have a book exchange system in place so anyone can bring in their used books and take away another book they wish to read.

At our Harvest Festival local, organic produce is used – donated by Polybel, a local business.

At all Church events, locally produced produce is used wherever possible.

Bassetlaw District Council has acknowledged the rewilding area in the new part of the cemetery. It has a rare type of orchid called Missy which is a very good find. In addition, in the area around the church left to go wild, rare plants which support the Cinnabar moth have been found. Bat boxes and bird feeding stations are in place.

We have benches in the cemetery which provide for contemplation, rest and relaxation to nurture mental wellbeing.

We offer participation in the planting of flowers, composting, bird feeding and housing, weeding and general maintenance.

We have dedicated services to promote the value of using local produce and the importance of our farming heritage and environment. These include the traditional Harvest Festival service and the revival of the ancient services of Plough Sunday and Lammas.
